What is Medical Microneedling ?
Medical Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is a technique that uses tiny sterile micro-needles to create very small, controlled “injuries” to the skin. These microscopic injuries then heal, resulting in collagen and elastin rejuvenation. It also allows for active ingredients to be absorbed into the deeper skin layers. At Skinlytics we use the Genosys Dermafix-K medical device and a range of pharmaceutical grade serums targeting different skin problems.
Medical Microneedling may help address many skin-related issues, such as:
Benefits of Medical Microneedling:
What happens during the Medical Microneedling procedure?
The procedure involves using an EU and FDA approved, CE marked, sterile, single-use medical grade 16 needle cartridge creating more micro channels compared to other devices that only have 12 needles. The treatment starts with cleaning and disinfecting the skin to prepare it for treatment. The needles then pass back and forth across the surface of the skin to create tiny injuries. These needles create micro-channels and invoke the body’s healing process that helps heal damaged skin cells, improves the appearance of problematic skin conditions, and helps the skin look smoother and more radiant.
Customisable Treatment
This treatment can be tailored to your skin needs; during your consultation we'll be able to review problem areas to recommend the right serum infusion and post treatment plan. We also spend extra time treating problem areas by increasing needle depth so that optimal results are achieved.
What areas can be treated with Medical Microneedling?
Microneedling isn't exclusive to just the face. The procedure can be done anywhere on the body that needs a collagen boost, particularly those that have stretch marks.
How long and how often?
While treatment time varies depending on the targeted area, it typically takes up to 60 minutes. Depending on individual responses and the area being treated, 3-4 sessions is recommended, to be repeated every six weeks to achieve optimum results.
Is the Medical Microneedling treatment painful?
There is mild discomfort during the treatment, but this is tolerable. At Skinlytics we do not apply numbing cream as it disrupts the healing process and it is counterproductive. The Dermafix-K medical device does not require numbing the skin. Furthermore, depending on the needle depth chosen, you may experience a slight discomfort in certain areas, but again not enough but again not enough for the skin to be numbed.
Results
Results are noticeable once healing is complete. Most people see results after the first treatment; however, results vary depending on individual skin health. It is common to begin noticing improvement as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment.
Irritation to the treatment area may last 24 hours. However, this quickly resolves itself and you will see visible improvements in your skin within one week of the procedure.
At Skinlytics, we are constantly seeking new and innovative therapies to provide our clients with longer-lasting results.
